is it possible to support a family and move out of the parent's house on the salary that a medical resident makes. I hear they make very little, the max and min being 30,000 and 15,000 respectivly. also do residency programs allow time off for the wedding and honeymoons?

Do some actual research on various residency programs rather than going on what you "hear". Assuming that you live in the U.S., residents often make about $40,000 a year or more. Vacation time is going to vary based on the specific hospital and residency program. Is the spouse incapable of working? Why do you have to live only on one income? Both spouses could be contributing. My husband and I got married last year, and he's still in medical school. I work, and we live on my income and his school loans.

It may be possible but not always a good idea. the rate of divorce for those going into the medical and legal field who marry at the lower income levels is some 90% because of the change in life styles between student or resident and what can be made when the person is actually out working in their chosen field. As far as the money aspect, there are people living on less that than every day in this country and getting by so it can be done.
