I found 1 GB RAM that is compatible for my Mac. They are priced $34 OWC, $40 Techworks and $55 Samsung.

Yes totally! Some companies, like corsair, offer a "value" line of memory. They are just that, a value. They will lack heat spreaders and may sometimes have higher latency. This doesn't mean that the value-type is bad ram, but it wouldn't be suitable for overclocking and very memory intensive operations. If you are just going to poke around and use email and stuff, then memory quality isn't really that important. You are talking about a mac, so I assume you would be into some of the audio/video type things that the macs are good at. In that case, I would go with some higher-end memory. You would be happy with the choice.

Hi. Usually the better RAM allows tighter (faster) timings. If so then yes.

Definetly yes. Many will give even life time warranty for ram, which is really helpful.
