Life is:
"Leaving the house in the morning, dressed in clothes that you bought on credit for work, driving through the traffic in a car that you are still paying for, in order to get to the job that you hate but need so badly so that you can pay for the clothes, car and the house that you leave empty the whole day, in order to live in it"

then saving what little you can for retirement being taxed 10 years after you leave America as an exit penalty for leaving / getting off the US Tax role.

Life is a journey. It's a game. The ONLY game in town.

What you have described is not your life, it's a rat race and it is your choice. Nobody twisted your arm. Along the journey somebody whom you trusted told you these lies and you choose to accept them as facts of life. You do have many followers and conformists (see the answers to your resignation) supporting these lies masquerading as facts of life or even as an American way of life. What a humungous pile of horse excrement that is!

No matter to what country in the world you would go to, there is –

5% of the population getting up in the morning being in the know, fully aware and in control of their lives making things HAPPEN

15% of this same population being somewhat aware of their lives, observing what will HAPPEN, adjusting accordingly and

80% remaining, getting up in the morning wondering "What the h*ll HAPPENED?!!

Our freedom rests in the decision as to where we want to be. If what you described is your life, you choose to be among 80%. Overall successful people have extensive libraries, the rest have large TV screens wasting their time watching mindless commercials interrupted by feeble minded shows. What you have at home right now was also your choice. Do you want to change it? It’s your choice again. Your choice alone.

P.S.
My wife and I, we have two children (Grade 1 and 2).They'd never seen us going to work. We take them to school and we are home when they come back. They never heard from us that we can't afford this or that. We are debt free. Reason? We quit our jobs (Just Over Broke), learned about leverage and developed our income from Home Based Positions. Try it --- guaranteed you'll like it. After all -- it's your choice!

Life is ABOUT "today". And what is the definition of "today"? THE PRESENT DAY OR TIME. All around you are reminders of this definition. Definition of "LIFE", that property of plants and animals(ending at death) which makes it possible for them to take in food, get energy from it grow, etc. In life there is nature, something you see that makes you smile. A song on the radio that takes you somewhere positive. A memory while in traffic. You can be where ever you want to be even through the chores of life we are obligated to for whatever reason. And even in th e PRESENT DAY AND TIME, ideas that seem only dreams are very positive. Family, vacations, friends anything that your dreams desire, no matter how far out of reach as far as you can reach for now. Visualizing and dreaming can help your sight. Life can be, not so positive as well. And looking for the positive in life is part of my definition.I don't want this to sound like some "fairy tale", but even in fairy tales life can be challangeing in a not so positive way. Finding joy, something that lifts your heart, fond memory, laughing, loving, LIVING. Good luck on finding YOUR definition!

Life is what you make it. Do you really need the car and fancy clothes, as for the job you are able to change that at any time, but that is a discission to make on your own. I felt like you recently and felt down, so I packed my job in, enroled in college at the ripe age of 35, got used to the idea of being skint and having to do with out what i used to think was essential. life is short, live it til the end, the one thing you should never do and that is stop laughing, good luck

That may be your life and true for some. I avoid buying on credit like the plague and the only thing we have financed is the house. Both my wife and I love our jobs. True, the house is empty, but only about 33% or less of the time.

Life is full of things to learn, love and laughter, and occasionally some bad times. I'd say that your viewpoint is what determines if it is empty or not.

well yeah something like that..

but goodness !! if u asked a nerd !! there NEVER gonna finish .. !!
" What is life? Does this seem like a strange question to you? Well, let's think about it. If you had to explain to someone what "life" is, what would you tell them?

Do all living things move? Do they eat and breathe? Even though we all seem to know what is meant by saying something is "alive", it's not very easy to describe what "life" is. It's almost as hard as describing where life came from.

The study of life is called "biology" and the people who study it are "biologists". They even have a tough time describing what life is! But after many years of studying living things, from the mold on your old tuna sandwich to monkeys in the rainforest, biologists have determined that all living things, do share some things in common:

1) Living things need energy
2) Living things grow and develop
3) Living things respond to their surroundings
4) Living things reproduce "

BLA BLA BLA !! lo0ol ..life is life and that's it people !!

Not my life.
My life is loving my daughter and husband with all my heart.
Life is seeing my daughter's first smile in the morning, getting ready in the morning, going to work which breaks my heart to leave her but come home to that beautiful smile again...then the rest is typical, make dinner, give the baby a bath and then bed.

Apparently it really really sucks to be you.

For me life is:

A continual magic adventure that awaits each day
I've lived it all,six decades now, my own damn way

Life is a treasure ,but you wouldn't know
cause you haven't earned it,but you will though

I've fought a war and killed to be here
that's the difference that makes life dear

raised my children through all kinds of hell
made and lost fortunes ,just as well

been everywhere I was told not to go
but life called me there,so I would know

just what to say when a fool would appear
and cry and complain of his life of fear
