You know the ones... you feel physically ill every time you hear them. Which ones are the worst for you?

Elana's got the right idea.... those two songs are absolutely wretch worthy. Dear God of Thunder, I'm getting sick just thinking about them now....... or maybe it was the bologna sandwich I had for lunch.

I guess I should mention the worst of the bunch... "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band. Hey, I do enjoy some afternoon nookie, but oh boy, that song has "hurl" stamped all over it.

Thanks for the tip lovnrckets, I'll be sure to skip them if they're ever in the area. Yikes... what a visual.

RoValle - Bobby Goldsboro is from my home town. Fortunately, they don't play his music around here because of some "alleged activities" involving his daughter; but yeah, that's a pretty horrible list you've got there.

Yep. Good call on "Oh Mickey!" and we can thank Canada for Corey Hart.... geeze, first him and then Celine Dion. Can we just declare war now and get it over with?

I agree with almost every answer, except the ones that say all pop and the one that said "Get It On" which is a rdiculously fantastic song. But I guess being born so many years after it came out I was never subjected to listening to it over and over and over when it was popular. Although I listen to it over and over and over now anyways.

"Bringing Sex Back" A freind of a friend made a mix CD for my friend and amung other horrid tracks was this one. I was embarrassed to be in the car, I was almost begging hi to put Metallica back on, and I don't care for Metallica at all!

"Kashmir" If you've heard the first 30 seconds you can basically predict how terrible the next 30 minutes of your life will be. Or 40 minutes, or however long that atrocity is.

"Let's Dance" by David Bowie, vomit inducing is actually EXACTLY how I'd describe it.

"My Humps" Dreadful

That horrible aweful Steve Miller song about how time keeps on slippin' slippin' into to the future.

Lick it up - Kiss, there is something to do with the mental image of four middle aged men in spandex wiggling their tongues between thier fingers (without makeup so you can see the ugly mugs) I love kiss, but alot of the newer crap is vomit inducing.

I could list so many of the newer crap that is out there but that would take all day.

The damn lips of an angel makes me hurl, it's on EVERY channel, the rok station, the crap pop station, and the terrible country station, it serously makes me thankful for CD's and dramamine

It would be easy to name all the pop music losers like Britney, MCR, etc. However, there was one rock band who really did make people vomit, including their own fans: Swans. They are said to have been one of the loudest live acts in the history of rock. So loud in fact that their music caused members of the audience to vomit. Scary!

Sookie - If I had first seen that as a young lad, it would have given me nightmares for sure. Certainly vomit inducing!

Jmikep69 - You are safe, they broke up a while ago. I think it had something to do with Michael Gira having severe hearing loss, go figure. Also, Afternoon Delight is so horrible that it's funny. I'll never forget that scene from the movie P.C.U.

The possibilities are endless, but I'll list a few:

"Come On Eileen" makes blood shoot out of my eyes.

"Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" makes me wish for a swift death.

"The Safety Dance" is sure to cause projectile vomiting.

As for current stuff ... anything by Justin Timberlake (sorry, girls!). Good God in Heaven, I have no idea why that man's songs are popular. And what are those weird noises in the background of some of his songs? They sound like gerbils being squeezed.

man, there was this song from the sixties, by a band called D.O.A. titled , well i don't remember the title, but the lyrics were something like
we were flying along
and hit something in the air
i looked over at my arm
and noticed that it wasn't there
i think of this song, way too often. and yes, it does make me sick, and yet curiously enough, if it were on the radio again, i would probably turn the volume up.

Barbie Girl by Aqua is the most annoying song I've ever heard and it's catchy too so it finds a way to embed itself in your head too. The worst.

I went to audio engineering school in L.A. and one of the first excercises we got was to create a 30 second radio edit of Hella Good by Gwen Stefani. I hated it to begin with and now after being forced to listen to it section by section over and over again that one is very high on my list.

It's kind of uncharacteristic for me, but the U2 record "All that You Can't Leave Behind" aside from like two songs makes me angry, honestly a physical reaction of blood boiling for lack of a better description. A lot of it has to do with sharing an office with someone who just loved it when it first came out and I had to listen to it over and over again for a month or so, but when I hear "Wild Honey" I swear steam shoots out of my ears.

****************
Great call on Toni Basil, Dani. Take what I said about Aqua and apply the exact same principles to that song. Bleh.
Also, with that new commercial that they are playing all the time I think Total Eclipse of the Heart needs to be added to the list as well.

Quite a few of them, for me, are by blonde chicks with the last name Simpson.

Also, bad covers make me lose my lunch. I always feel so bad for the artist who originally did them.

Edit: Really? "Afternoon Delight" cracks me up every time I hear it. I guess is on the other end of the cheese scale for me. :)

lovnrckets - the swirls and the camera work in that video were making me nauseous.
