I don't know about hot places, but cold places? East coast of Greenland is just about the most amazing scenery on the planet, and for a large part is un-populated. Around Skjoldungen is amazing, as is the more populated Tasilliq.
Bill Murray was up on the west coast of Greenland in his boat earlier in the year. The Antarctic peninsula is pretty amazing too..
