Why do people have Battlefield Earth (please dont answer with useless things like "because its scientology)

Question

I have read the book and seen the movie. Yes i know that the movie only covered half of the book. Yes i know it has some scientificaly impossible parts to it (but so did the book)

Like airplanes (even shrink wrapped) surviving a 1000 years plus the fuel inside them. or the flight simulator also surviving.

But to me it was a interesting story line.

sorry that wAs supposed to be hate.

If you enjoyed reading Battlefield Earth you might want to read the Mission Earth dekalogy (10 novels) also by L. Ron Hubbard. Despite his unusual religious views he was a very talented SciFi author.

I think the look of it bothered a lot of people, especially John Travolta looking particularly nasty. Most people mentioned the hoses in the noses. *giggle* Well, that's what they would say, wrinkling their noses. Grungy and grimy also were included in their descriptions. I've only seen clips of the film, but the author's reputation preceded him. I read some of his books when I worked in a bookstore.

Someday, perhaps I'll give the film a chance, but it does look rather nasty and unpleasant. Why people think that Earth should be horrid-looking in the future, I'm not sure. The majority give it that "Soylent Green" or post-apocalyptic appearance. Maybe I've only seen the icky parts in clips.

I liked it. It even had some funny lines in it. I think the most disturbing part is when they say that they took the earth in minutes?

But I think most of the hate aimed at it is "because I was told" stuff.

I agree.I even liked the way the aliens looked and their speculations about us lead to their defeat.
