Of course, I can't speak for all "libs". I can only speak for myself. I'd like to see all parties and ideologies work to improve our international reputation for generosity, compassion and support to the point where the U.S. doesn't have to protect itself from anyone. Those who assume that the U.S. will always have enemies and always be at war somewhere are either stupid or employed by the military-industrial complex. The time for war has passed and all wars will one day cease one way or another.

Maybe a Democratic President will finally do what should have been done right after 9/11. That would be actually doing something about our borders and properly monitoring our ports. All Bush has done is try to hand over our port monitoring to the Arab Emirates. You've actually got a lot of nerve acting like American is protected when Bush hasn't seen the need to stop the bleeding at our borders or worried too much about what's coming in at our ports. It's that more than anything else, even his failures in Iraq, that have convinced me he just isn't too bright. And maybe the Democrats will find a way to solve the political chaos in Iraq so Al Queda recruiters don't have such an easy time of it gathering new terrorists to their cause. So much to do, and such a mess to clean up.

Neither party protects the US. That is the US military that protects the US. By minding our own damn business we will not need to place our military in harms way and could actually use them to secure our borders. How are you Cons going to protect the US when you now have created more terrorists? For every one you kill there are ten to take his place.
