Hi I recently got a job working for citi - sears cards. To let you know I am not to happy at how they tend to treat the card member.
They are very very fee happy as you see. My advise is to call the # on the back of your card and see if the customer service agent you get is willing to wave a few of your late charges. Unfortuatly it sounds like you have been avoiding this for a while and I doubt that citi will wave all your fees. I would also advise you to pay this off as quickly as you can and close the account.... oh yea one more thing ... if your balance is $131 pay more then that because they will charge you residual interest. I get a lot of calls from card members asking why they are being charge more interest after paying off your card.

Usually they will cut you some slack if you were late for 1 time and reverse the $39 late charge.

However, at this point it is probably too late.

Just pay the amount so it doesn't impact your credit. Then cut up the card, write a letter to Sears telling them to close your account, and at the same time, tell them for now on you will be taking your business elsewhere.

Sears isn't in the best financial shape in the world, if you were a good customer, they may refund your money to keep your business.

unfortunatly, they are correct! Once you have a charge on the account (including fees), you have to pay it the next month or that will incure other fees/charges & that incures interest on it.

You have already ruined your credit by not paying this! You have gone 5 months without paying on your account! Each month adds late fee & interest.

You can dispute if you want to & have them reimburse your fees, you do not have the right to with hold payment until you get what you want. You must keep your account current until they decide, so you must keep paying every month. By this point, you have no ground to stand on because you are so late with it & have no bargain power.

Realize you WERE late in paying the card. It is not Sear fault. Just pay the penalty and move on.
