Both. My brother says that he can dream about whatever he wants. He just goes to bed thinking about what he wants to dream about, and he says it works. But I also think that we dream every night, we just wake up after the REM cycle has finished, so we don't remember it.

when i am in a deep sleep i just dream.but when I'm sleeping light i like to dream about what ever i want like bunny's ha ha ha ha just playin
