Oh by the way Sarah, your answer is a bit of a whitewash. Women are at least as guilty in the "mommy wars".

Misandrist!

"Feminists respect the choices other women make."

You're speaking for all feminists are you? Will you be held accountable for everything bad that any feminist has ever said, in the history of forever?

Your myopia is staggering. You honestly think SAHMs feel respected for their choice? I'm not talking about "anti-feminists" - I'm talking about those who feel on the periphery of the sisterhood because of their "economic dependency". There is at least one example on this forum. I'll give you a clue: Her name begins with a "J", ends in an "r", and has "unipe" in the middle.

Yes, I am in all seriousness arguing that the children of career women have leprosy, aren't I?

If respecting the choices of women is a central tenet of feminism, why do you consider an "anti-feminist" stance "self-loathing"? Aren't you then saying that women deserve respect so long as they follow a pre-approved path?

And here is your myopia again. No, there is more to the "guilt" than traditional men and sisterhood "sellouts". You don't even consider the possibility that the feminist movement could have contributed - that value is placed more on career, and SAHM feminists may feel of less worth. User: Juniper says this all the time. Is she a "self-loather" too? For complaining that her choice is not widely respected by her fellow feminists?

The fact is, some feminists ARE condescending towards SAHMs, but you appear too arrogant to notice.

Anti-feminist women think of themselves as "inferior"? That will be news to them I'm sure.

We're repeating, but it's unbelievable that you don't recognise that the feminist movement has contributed - that some feminists have placed higher status value on career, at the same time condescending those women who haven't.

I don't have a "gripe" with Juniper - you've seriously misread that. I offered her name as an example of a feminist who feels that her choice (SAHM) doesn't meet with the same respect as that of career women.

They have leprosy because the stay at home fathers haven't a clue what to do.

Note: Most stay at home fathers are great at it, just not all. He wont select Sarah as best answer because she is right. Still kudo's for her.

Because women who work hard outside the home to provide their children w/ minor items such as food, clothes, electricity, hot water...did I mention food...obviously she could careless about her children. Duh!
I mean what nerve women have to actually go out and support their child when they can sit at home collect welfare & eat bonbons all day!
How dare working moms set such an example that sucess is achieved by hard work, focus and determination!

I am lucky I choose to be and insist on being stay at home mommy for my 3 (only until they are old enough to attend school...2 down 1 to go...woohoo).
I realize that not every mom is afforded this luxury and that not every mom even wants this luxury. It's not for me to judge why a mom is working...According to you anyway in 3 years all my kids will be lepers.

Not sure. My question is why do men complain about career women and call them bad mothers, then complain about SAHM and call them lazy?

SW: Only conflicted anti-feminist (aka self-loathing) women are guilty of perpetuating the mommy wars. You know, those women who are on your side?

Feminists respect the choices other women make.

So I'm not supposed to speak for all feminists when you're making an unqualified statement about all career women? Haha how convenient.

But what are you talking about now? I'm not speaking for all women who you consider to be feminists. You are hopelessly confused. I'm not taking responsibility for the words or actions of any woman. I'm telling you that respecting the choices other women make is the first tenet of a feminist ideology. The reason women feel "guilty" about the choice to stay at home or to have a career is because of men like you and the co-dependent women who sellout the "sisterhood" in order to gain the approval of your kind.

SAHMs feel on the periphery of feminism because on one hand you have organizations like "Concerned Women for America" telling us that career mom's are closet lesbians and man-haters. Then you have guys like Tom Leykis telling us that SAHMs are lazy and looking to benefit from men's achievements.

You need to be more consistent with hateful agenda.

No kidding, you're just trolling? Your question wasn't serious, but what it stems from is serious and detrimental to women, that's why I treat it as such.

Anti-feminist women have the right to not respect themselves. I respect their rights as human being and citizens to have the opinion that they're inferior, but that doesn't change reality. A black person who feels inferior to whites is self-loathing. I'm not trying to stop anyone from expressing their opinions, but we have to call a spade a spade.

No, the feminist movement did not contribute to the conflicted feelings some women feel about the choice to stay home or have a career. Only people who have misinterpreted feminism or condemned feminism have done that. Feminism values motherhood and can be summed up in one word "choice."

Stop telling me about your personal gripes with other users. I don't care. I'm not responsible for what other people do and say, whiner.

Are you suddenly finding some real competition in the workplace since women got in? Unfortunately asking questions like this wouldn't solve the problem. You're still going to have to work harder to stay in it. Goodluck. You will need it
