Ennio Morricone wrote a piece called 'Ch mai' which was used as the theme tune to a British television series called 'The Life and Times of David Lloyd George'. It was issued as a single in 1981 and enjoyed a great deal of success. This is what you're looking for, I think. It's available on several compliations of Ennio Morricone's music. Other famous music he has written includes soundtracks for film such as 'The Mission', most of the 1960s spaghetti westerns ('The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' being the most famous) and 'The Professional ' ('The Assassin' in some countries).
