Congrats on the BR!! I had one and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself!!!

They will not do the surgery if you are pregnant. And it's better not to anyway, as your breasts may grow with the pregnancy. Also, the BR might complicate breastfeeding if you plan to do that. Since you might be pregnant, it's better to subject your body to the difficulties of childbirth and all that goes with it before you "fix" it with the BR.

Good luck!

I would talk to the doctor if you think you are pregnant. They can give you a blood test to check for pregnancy. They can get the results earlier then a urine pregnancy test. It is not safe to be put under when you are pregnant, it is very high risk for the baby. Also, being a breast reduction surgery is not the best surgery to have when pregnant. Your breasts are going through so many changes during pregnancy as is, and it could effect results of the surgery. Not in a good way.

I would recommend waiting until after you have your surgery.

I don't think a doctor would perform a surgery...such as that...when you are pregnant. It really is considered an elective that should wait until after the birth of a baby.

A doctor will perform surgery if it is needed. WHen my friend was pregnant with her first daughter, she had to have surgery to remove an ovary that had a massive tumor growing on it. The only reason the doctor removed it is because it was life threatening...note that my friend was 5 months pregnant too.

If you are pregnant...don't get your hopes up about getting a breast reduction. It prob won't happen.

Generally speaking doctors only do surgery if necessary when pregnant. And as much as breast reduction can be medically necessary it isn't emergent and so can wait until later. The other thing you need to consider is that you will have a much higher rate of breastfeeding success if there is at least 18 months of healing time between the surgery and pregnancy.

The doctor may not do the surgery while you are pregnant because they breast will swell with milk and other pregnancy things. You may have to wait until after the baby is born and the milk has all dried up. The only surgeries done on a pregnant woman are those that are absolutely needed.

They won't do surgery unless the risk is greater that the mother would die than the risk of hurting the baby. Elective surgery would not be done. Not to mention there's probably no point in having a breast reduction only to finish the pregnancy and have your breasts change shape and possibly droop anyway.

I would say no, they will only perform surgery if it is medically necessary. If you are pregnant, I would think that having a breast reduction right now would be harmful and painful. Your breast go through lots of changes while pregnant. I would talk to your doctor about the pros and cons of this.

I don't think they will perform a surgery unless it is absolutely necessary - like, there is a risk to your life if you don't have it - epecially in the first trimester. This is partly because they don't really want to give you anasthesia or strong pain meds unless absolutely necessary. But, you should specifically tell the doctor that you might be pregnant and see what they say.

No doc will perform surgery if you might be pregnant. If you think you are, you need to inform the doc right away, the medication that would be given during your surgery will harm the fetus.

if you are pregnant and this is required surgery, then there will be modifications but I'm unsure of what exactly

probably not. i have a gallbladder full to the brim with gallstones and my surgeon still wont remove it until after i have the baby. this has caused much pain during pregnancy and it's also a health risk as the gallbladder could burst at any given time. im sorry to say they will probably make you wait as well. and i also have to say that as much pain as i've had the past 9 months, it's worth the pain to protect the baby. the earliest ive heard they will do dire emergency surgeries during pregnancy is 7-8 months.
