Do some liberals worship socialism through the religion of liberalism?

They do exactly what which they accuse Christians of doing.

I.e. they put belief ahead of reality.

They believe that Marxism will work if we can just get it right this time… even though it never works.

Even when it is historically & demonstratively destructive they still cling to big government, big spending and graduated taxation to help others.


You must acknowledge that just because a politician calls himself a Republican it does not mean they are a conservative.

To those of you who accuse me of over generalizing. READ THE WHOLE F'N QUESTION BEFORE YOU ACCUSE ME OF DOING THE SAME!!!!! (note that I said SOME to denote the fact that I acknowledge that not all liberals feel this way.)

I don't think the other respondents really understand the true meaning of Liberals worshiping at the alter of Liberalism.

Liberalism is like a religion. It has its own sacred beliefs and anyone who denies these "self evident truths" are summarily, haughtily, and dismissively labeled as heretics.

The Liberal creed promotes atheism as an ecclesiastical institution. In place of
God, we have the omnipotent benevolence of an all-wise, all-knowing paternalistic government.

Liberalism has its own cosmology, its own miracles, its own beliefs in the supernatural, its own high priests, martyrs and saints, its own view of the cosmos, and its own explanation for how the universe came into being.

Ultra-orthodox adherents to a religion violently bristle at the suggestion that any of their beliefs are false. Want to see this same reaction in the Liberal? Tell him you don't believe in the theory of man-made global warming. You'll think he's preparing the Inquisitor for the Great Inquisition.

Liberals are engaged in a great Crusade to replace Democracy with their own warped version of Socialism, as if, unlike the dozens of times it was attempted before, they can finally "get it right", never realizing that Communism and Socialism insidiously destroy the human spirit.

Liberalism contains all the attributes of a religion, and this one is as intolerant, dangerous and flawed as the brand of ultra-conservative Islam practiced by the Taliban.

Public health care is not creeping marxism, despite all the orchestrated whining from the HMOs and Big Pharmacy. If it were, then Great Britain, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, Portugal and Ireland would all surley have fallen like dominoes in the sixty years since they started their systems.

The United States of America is the only western democracy that has failed to provide its citizens with a working health care system. This is because we are too stupid to stop listening to the people who make trillions by selling us the corporate placebo.

Liberalism is a philosophy or a political movement, not a religion. People of a wide variety of religions can adhere to the precepts of liberal thought without generally too greatlly viiolating thier religions' doctrines (especially given liberalism's penchant for re-interpretation).

Secular Humanism isn't exactly a religion, either, but it is an alternative to religion, and one that's quite compatible with liberalism - that may be what you're thinking of.

First off, not all Liberals are atheist like you are implying. There are MANY Christian liberals. I agree that people must acknowledge that there are Liberal Republicans, Liberal Democrats, Conservative Democrats, and Conservative Republicans, and so on. Seriously, I have never heard of any serious liberals in America talk about Marx or socialism in modern political discourse.

And I am a conservative... stop being paranoid. One of our greatest allies in the war of terrorism was the Liberal party in the UK. I have never heard anyone on here call Tony Blair a Marxist (and his party created Universal Healthcare and its still working after all these years)... so stop being foolish.

You seem to be an uninformed American who mixes up socialism and communism... learn the difference so you can talk and question it correctly.
Your culture is so ineffective at helping people that people are rich and poor. The poor are dying from no health care and poverty is rampant. I have just come back from living there for two years and the things I saw will never let me return.
You are about number 40 on the life style scale for most developed countries... get life. do your homework.
