Why not say it? It is just a saying.
In fact, if a christian used it, wouldn't that be considered using the lord's name in vain? Isn't that against the rules or something in the bible?

Maybe they are referring to Gosh, who doesn't exist regardless of what you believe. Wake up followers of Gosh! there is NO GOSH!
