Erik tried to fix off a plastic spoon
19 years ended way too soon
Danny drank 2 fifths of Jack a day
It didn't take long to go out that way
Sean put a .38 to his head
While his girlfriend watched the walls turn red
A few more people who died who died
A few more people who died who died
They were all my friends and they died
Bobby's body wasn't found for two weeks
"Causes unknown" is what they told me
Scotty's heart gave out goin down the road
For too long it pulled too much of a load
Daddy took a ride on the old H train
He was 29 when he died
The day that I turned 5
A few more people who died who died
And I loved them all, but they died
Tim dropped some pills and he got in a fight
Fell and hit his head, he went out like a light
Leighton disappeared for a couple of weeks
They found him lying face down in the street
Marci was a girl with a heart of gold
She was only 20 when she died! She left a 2 year old!
A few more people who died who died...

Jessica, I don't deal with it. I just hide it deep inside and hope it never comes out.

Strong lyrics.
Sounds like a lot of my old friends.
In the past year one of my "friends" from active addiction OD'd and died, and 2 more were together in a deal gone bad and were murdered. I miss them yet I am glad to be further away from them. I like my life today. I deal with the loss of friends with a good cry and a prayer.
Peace.

I lost a lot of friends when I was younger. In total, 9 in a 6 year span between my freshman year in High School and my Sophmore Year in college. I lost them to various causes (suicide, DWI, overdose, illness, etc). I even had the misfortuine of watching one of them die right in front of me when I was 16. You don't get over the loses. The pain doesn't go away, you just learn to live with it over time. I can remember, because they all happened in such a short time, having my greatest fear be that I would get the word that another one of my friends had died and I wouldn't feel anything because I would just become immune to the pain because it happened so often. The only advise I can give you, is to be with your other friends. Talk with them and pour your heart out to eachother like you never have before. They all feel the same way you do and I never would have made it through those times without the friends I still had around.

I had a friend out West who was a trumpet player, and he always had a big problem with booze. After I moved back East, I got word from his wife that he passed away while working on a cruise ship as a musician. It was definitely alcohol related... I often watch movies or listen to jazz that he and I had shared as friends. It is a difficult thing to deal with. Otherwise, I've not had to deal with the loss of very close friends or family in my life yet... I think it is something everyone has to deal with, and it helps to have a support system.

I lost my husband and friend 4 years ago, and I cry when I miss him so much and feel sad ( and this feels so good) and then I laugh when I remember the funny and good times that we had (this also feels so good). I don't try to block anything out. At times I even let myself wonder on what his last thoughts where before he died. But I know that no matter what, I have to move on as time/life won't stand still for me.

You never get over the lost of a friend
They are in your mind until your end
I lost my best when she ate a gun
So many memories slower have run
We never understand why they have left
but we hold on dear to those who kept
safe in our hearts they will remain
It will get easier but we never loose the pain
