what is the suitable speed to burn? some people said the burner will be harmed if we use the fast speed. is that true?

not harmed. the burn't DVD quality may get a li'l bad. especially towards the end..12x or 16x is good enough outta 18x..

It is my opinion that I get good quality if I burn at the fastest speed. My Cd's burn at 48 and DVDs burn at 16 (the max on the burner). Hope this helps. I have had a HP for quite some time now with no problems. Good luck.

Depends quite a lot on the quality of the media.

I usually use some a burn speed a couple of steps down to prevent getting coasters.

How ever fast it's claimed DVD or CD writers will burn.
It's always best to burn DVD's at the slowest speed. You will not get errors then on the disc.
I always burn my movies at the slowest speed and get great results.
