I don't believe that we are alone. I believe that other intelligent life forms are out there. But no evidence for their existence has been found. Maybe an old abandoned spacecraft will one day be found floating into our solar system.

So far we've seen no verifiable evidence of other sentient species. That said, I believe with some certainty that somewhere in our galaxy at some past, present, or future time, a sentient species did/does/will exist.
Why haven't we heard from them?
Perhaps they are not technologically advanced enough to be heard. They may be mastering stone knives right now, or experiencing their own Rennaisance.
Perhaps they are here right now. Any species sufficiently advanced to travel interstellar distances would be able to hide or masquerade with ease. That Boeing 737 that just flew by may be a surveillance craft.
Perhaps they are so far away they will never notice us and vice versa.
Perhaps they existed a million years ago and died out.
Perhaps they will exist a million years from now.
It is really impossible to know for sure.
The Drake Equation suggests that there is sentient life out there. The Fermi Paradox casts doubt. Play around with the calculation form at the second link and see what you think.

The chance seems to me to be exceptionally slim. I'm sure every (semi-)intelligent species looks up at the stars and asks if they're alone in the universe.
There are up to 400,000,000,000 stars in our galaxy alone - Most of them may have planetary systems. If only 1 in 1000 has life - thats nearly half a million life-bearing worlds. Multiply that by the number of galaxies - also very roughly 400,000,000,000 - and that's a lot of life. The Drake Equation is a method for estimating how many civilisations are up there but we don't have enough data to say for definite yet.

I think it is egotistical to believe we are alone in the universe. I don't believe humans are that special. If life can exist on one planet, common sense says it can exist on others.

No I don't think we are alone, I think some people actually have made contact with them, and I think that some of them even live among us! How would you ever know, people disappear every day!

There may be a planet like earth in another solar system which may be billions and billions light years away. There is possibility of life in such a situation.

No. Billions of galaxies out there. Odds are we are not alone. We'll never find out :)
