I've always heard the expression ,"I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole". So I was just wondering.

If someone says that, it means that that what was just said is too controversial for the hearer to make a comment on it. Sometimes it's just better to keep your mouth shut rather than starting an argument or causing hard feelings. Know when to speak up and when to be silent.

When ever I say that, usually add "...or a 11 foot Geman" or
some other nationality!

I would not touch my friends men, or my boyfriends friends. Hell no! Some are good looking, but when you get to know them, NO! Not cool.
