u can give babies cows milk on cereal or in food from about 6 months old but not as a main drink till there about a year old because they still need the vitamins and nutrients from there formula/breast milk till that age and until there 1 year old there stomach can not digest the cows milk properly.
my son is 15 months old now and does not like cows milk very much he'll drink it if its a milkshake but thats all so for the time being i am keeping him on sma progress till he is at least 18/24 months

My health visitor told me there is nothing wrong withh cows milk, there is nothing stopping them having it from 6 months, BUT babies need SO much iron (almost as much as an adult!) and yet obviously don't eat enough food to get all the iron they need. Formula (especially the folllow on like SMA RED) have all the extra vitamins and iron a babby will need in conjunction with a healthy diet. My girl stayed on formula till she was 15 months. She did have cows milk from 6 months in cereal (porridge, weetabix etc) and in cooking cheese sauces etc. This was recommended by health visitor. Good luck, hope this helps.

my baby has just had cows milk in a cup, about an ounce, she is 11 mths, she wont take her formula at the moment so i thought a little cows milk would be better than nothing at all,she has been ok with it,but still goin to try her with formula.

From 6 months babies can safely have cow's milk in food eg on cereal or in things you cook for them, but as a main drink never until they are 12 months. Its hard to digest and can cause allergies if given too early.
