I'd like to add additional engine cooling capacity for my Toyota 6 cylinder engine and I'm deciding between an engine oil cooler or an additional coolant radiator located in a space under the camper part of the motor home.
It hasn't overheated, but there have been a few times when the temperature is over 100 degrees that I've had to turn off the AC to let the engine cool.
It's a 6 cylinder engine with an automatic transmission.

I'de check with a radiator shop and see if they can retrofit your rig with a larger capacity unit.

Link, There are a couple of ways to tackle your heating problem both will cost approximately the same amount. Lately we've installed pusher electric fans in FRONT of the air conditioner condensing unit behind the grille area which have helped guys who pull enclosed race car trailers which weigh around 5,000- lbs.
The second option would be to replace your radiator with one which has an extra row of cooling fins. Any good radiator shop could cross reference your exact size radiator with a radiator of this type. You could call places like: Howe Racing Enterprises, Griffin Radiators and Arts Radiators and have them make up an exact replacement aluminum radiator also.
By now, if your radiator is original it's probably starting to scale up inside and not operating at peak efficiently even though you've been faithfully cleaning and flushing every three yrs.

oil coolers are the way to go, even if you do light towing. We run them on our pickup trucks to pull trailers since the summers get over 100 plus during our busy seasons. I've noticed when pulling my double axle boat trailer I don;t come close to over heating when it's 105 this summer. The sandwich coupling for the oil filer is the best one and the kits come with everthing, lines, an fittings, cooler, and mounting hardware to install it in about 2 hours or less with hardly any tools :) you won;t be disappointed
