I finished high school and I want to continue my education and I decided a nursing career would be the best way to go. It will pay well and you get benefits but I don't know where to start. What would be the steps to getting the education and degrees needed to become a nurse. I live in Atlanta, Ga. Please only serious and correct information based on experiance or knowledge. Thank you !

Not sure how the education system is in Ga but out here in California most of the local city or community colleges offer a nursing program. The RN program itself is usually 4 semesters long but there are prerequsite classes you have to take before entering the program. These are classes are biology, anatomy, chemistry, college algebra and some general classes such as english, sociology and psychology. Go to your local college and talk to a counselor....they can tell you the specific classes you need and get you started in the right direction.

If you're talking about being an RN, you can get either an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in nursing. The cost will depend on what school you get into. There is a nursing shortage, but there is also a waiting list to get into nursing school. It is very competitive, so you better have great grades and references. You can start out in a pre-nursing major, and take biology, zoology, anatomy, speech, English writing, psychology, and other basic classes. Best wishes!

It is a degree program in itself. Since you live in GA you qualify for HOPE scholorship. Atlanta I am sure has MANY colleges where nursing is offered.

Good Luck
