like the guy above me said, dog walking!

my friend in san fransico has a successful dog walking/watching business. it's great exercise for you and the dogs who would be at home bored while their owner are at work!

plus you can make a few extra tax free dollars!

if you're not looking for a job, PETA is a great place to start finding ways to help animals. they have many suggestions on their website about ways communities can help. I'm not a member, some of their suggestions are too extreme for me, but they are doing what they do for a good reason.

Almost any job you get helping animals will also sometimes include seeing them hurt, in pain, or dying. The only ones I can think of where they might NOT see these things is working as a zoo docent educating the public, working as a pet sitter, or working for the humane society as a socializer/dog walker, or a pet groomer. If you can handle sometimes seeing animals in pain you can go for wildlife biologist, zookeeper, vet tech, vet receptionist, wildlife rehabber, etc.

Well, if you're looking to get paid and help out then working at an animal shelter and seeing the animals getting adopted might be the way to go, however, from personal experience, volunteering at your local zoo/wildlife park is one of the most rewarding experiences!!! Now, when it comes to zoos and such, there are a lot of zoos that WILL NOT allow volunteers animal contact so that's something that you'll need to check out.

Why not become a dog behaviorist and help people solve the problems they have with their pets? Most pets are given up to shelters due to behavioral problems. By being a behaviorist you could help people avoid giving up their pet and show them how to be better owners.
Keep in mind that if you want to help animals, PETA doesn't help animals - it kills them http://www.petakillsanimals.com/

Well you could always work in a Zoo, or dog or cat kennels. By the way animals don't always die when they go to the vet. If you want to help them, a vets is the best place. My niece is a vet in Scotland!

I am an animal activist for Peta. You can even get a job with them. You would be helping animals all over the world.

Be a dog walker or dog babysitter.

If your town doesn't already have a dog park, try to organize either a dog park or a "play date" with a place where dogs can get together to socialize.

Well you can always become a part of PETA. I personally am not a member. And there's also the possibility of working in animal control. Where you go and help those animals that are being abused and neglected by their owners.
