Yup, I've dated 3 guys seriously that I met from the net, and met another 4 or so. They were just like normal guys, for some reason people always think that the people on dating websites are weird freaks. You can find freaks anywhere, at work, in a bar, at a club. I dated a doctor, counselor, accountant, and unemployed guy from the net. It is also fun because you talk to them for a while before you meet them and it is extra exciting when you do. I actually visited one guy in new york for 4 months I met online. It was a fun experience.

Ive been a system admin for internet sites for as long as its been internet. Ive had alot of involvement in this subject long before there were even official sites for it.
One answer that is kindof fun is like this:
"You dont know if they are really young, or really blonde, or really have those stats, or really even female"
"Oh yeah? Have you been to a bar recently?"
Most of the people who put down online dating consider bars or dance clubs to be the mostly likely alternative. But give them a hard time about not being able to really chat with the person, and taking them home. Then when they start taking stuff off you find out that they arent really young, arent really blonde, dont really have those stats, and arent even female. :)
Sure people can fake things online. For awhile. But over a period of time you tend to really get to know the person. Its not infallable but its not a total failure either, and real-world meetings arent always perfect either. As the new alternative, I think its a great way to meet people.

Never done it, chatted before, but never dated someone I met online. It just seems to weird to me. Reason being b/c you never know if the way they describe themselves is real or not. Plus the picture could be a fake and who never know their true personality or background as easily. I've had Friends that have done it and still do and love it. Of course I've heard "horror" stories about it as well. A gf of mine actually got married to her bf off of the Internet and has been married to him for 6 yrs. So I guess it just depends on who you are.

Online dating is the new speed dating. You start with the introduction (the usual "ASL, please."), a little more info about yourself ("I love to dance and sing! You should hear me belt out "I Will Survive!") and if you find the other party intolerable or irritating for some reason, all you need to do is bid adieu and block and delete them ("Oh, hey, I gotta go now. Ttyl!".. block the contact from your IM, delete them.. and you're good to go)!

I tried it. Never met anyone because they were all too strange. The better guys had such an opinion of themselves they were worse than the losers!
