It doesn't matter what they 'say'...it matters what they do. Islam may be going through an era of stupidity where only the negitives of that faith seem to be working. Christianity has also gone through the same convulsions. Stupidity and meanness are universal. If Christians loved their neighbors why did Catholic and Protestants spend several centuries killing each other....why did Christians insist on bumping off as many Jews as possible when ever the occasion to do so arose? How about them Crusades? Western slavery? Let's not forget our past while crabbing about the present. For my money all the religious leaders and their 'holy books' should be rounded up and exiled to some distant island until these bozos learn how to behave. Religion isn't going to solve any problems as long as it is the problem. Re-educate these boneheads...that's the ticket!

Pretty much the same thing. You need to realize that Judaism (jewish), Christian (christians), and Islam (muslims) all came from the same place, about the same time, and share alot of the same prophets. In fact, all three refer to Jesus and Mohammed as prophets, they just disagree on the level.
With alittle bit of reading you would be amazed at the similarities. Here is a link which I dont agree with all of but it gives alot of info for a start to compare the 3.

Its also very interesting to check on the angel Gabriel and his role in all 3.

I don't know if u guys wanna hear the reality about this question, but the religion (Islam) is so generous that it talks about almost everything in this world and it was found 1428 years ago, but its people (we Muslims) don't follow everything as it says in the Quran, the Holy islamic book.
in this Question, Islam says: Love Allah, His massenger, Mohammed (saws), respecet ur neighbors and ur guests.

Oh god.. The racism that resides in some of your answers...
Sigh...
The muslim Quran said pretty much the same thing... To love others and not hate... Just, in another language. lol
Every religion is similar in that text...
And if u compare it alittle.. Islam and Christianity is very much alike. Even some of the names are similar!
I sincerely believe NO REAL RELIGION writes down that..
"Kill others in the name of your so called god & rape your daughters and their daughters. Then make more daughters and rape em too, ending up in one big party"...
Only sadistic people would go that far, believing that such a devil really is one known as 'God'..
And even if they did, the chances of their sons & daughters following in their footsteps are very VERY slim...
Why bother about the what religion are others? Or, the need to convert them?
As long as they are good people i say... What is born within our hearts (Be it good OR bad) cannot be changed merely by a word such as 'differnce in race/religion'...

Islam give 3 options to infidels
1- Convert to Islam
2- Dhimmitude; second class citizens who have to pay a tax for not being Muslim. They are not allowed to practice their faith or display any items connected to their faith.
3- Death
That is what Isam says.

Since I am not a muslim and never been exposed to the Koran , I would say that the religion does not teach violence.Extremists appear to have interpreted the text differently which has led to violence between religious sects throughout the world, not only the middle east.
