I have had this ongoing debate, I SAY that both the NY Giants and the NY Jets are NEW YORK teams, my main point being it actually says NY in their team name.
But I have had people argue that since both teams play and are headquarted in NJ that they are NJ teams.
Can anyone help prove one side correct ?

The NY Giants and Jets are based in the New York City metropolitan area which includes the stadium and headquarters of both teams. Both of them play in New Jersey and pretty soon both will have their headquarters there, but they are based in the New York City metropolitan area.

Technically the Giants and Jets both play in New Jersey...Buffalo is the only NY football team...but all three represent the state. Maybe one should be the New Jersey Jets/Giants to make it more fair to the state they actually play in...

Corporate name is NY giants but they are 100 percent based in NY.
Dallas Cowboys play in the Suburb.
Several teams Washington plays in Maryland.

The area the Jets and Giants play is so wretched, so depleted, so worthelss , that is hardly worthy of being called a state anyway.
They are incorporated in New york state i believe.

They can call themselves whatever they want. But if anyone has the audacity to ask their fans to travel to the wretched Rutherford/Meadowlands area of northern Jersey, they are from New Jersey.

I'm sorry, I can't help prove you correct. They play in Jersey. To see them in action (if you could call it that) you have to go to Jersey. It's all BASED in NYC, but they play in Jersey. They are a Jersey team

It just like Dallas Cowboys that are not really in Dallas( Irving, TX).... but that is the big area they represent....
