One of the cool ways to do this is to Go through the Blocking (movement) of the play while memorizing the lines.
So for example, if on line 10 you sit on the couch, then by line 15 you move down center stage. Do that a couple of times going over each line.
But if you havent learned the blocking and just need to memorize, Write them down, and do everything FULL OUT.
Dont be quite or shy. Get in FULL character.
Then do anything you feel you need to do.
That's all.

Holy Carp! I'd hate to be in your shoes. Learning lines was my greatest difficulty as an actor. My memory has never, even in my youth, been my strongest suit. I always had someone to work with, however, and that made a difference. Just go over the script again and again. It takes a lot of time, but it can be done. Get someone to feed you your cues.

Working with another person has always helped me. They have the script and you do your lines. One of my directors had us do a fast forward version of the play to help us learn lines. Each person would say their lines as quickly as possible - no blocking, no acting, just lines.

I just got an acoustic guitar for Christmas and I was so lost. I am trying to learn the chords and scales and maybe I might have to get a book

Start much sooner than you did. Start the minute you get your script. Put your cues on a cassette recorder and leave spaces for your speeches. Play the recorder and speak your speeches out loud while pacing.

record yourself saying all the lines and listen to them over and over. This will make it a lot easier but read along sometimes and try to recite along. Do one scene at a time and its ok to jump around as long as you get your order straight in your head. its better using a cd if possible.
