Why do we display this crap?
Doesn't the fact that we are willing to display insults aimed at us show the true divide?

I actually like it.
I can think of several reasons that the crack is like the separation between white Europeans and the rest of the world.
The gap is small in some places, big in others.
The ground separated by the crack is very close, but not connected.
It can be crossed.

I don't see how it is supposed to be insulting to anyone.

Of course, when I read your question, I was picturing the cracks that are a part of human anatomy. I thought, "That sounds ridiculous!" So the picture I saw when I clicked on the link got some automatic points by comparison.

Because the art world is so far up it's own backside that it can no longer tell art from rubbish.

All that crack says to me is that the Tat ( yes, Tat) Modern has structural problems, none of this hoi-polloi rubbish about it being a metaphor.

How can a crack in the floor of a building be art? It can't is the answer.

I believe that the point of it is to provoke debate...which is what you are doing...starting a debate on the subject....
