One thing that can be done is to make it illegal for US companies to help other countries with their censoship. China and Saudi Arabia could not fight the internet without help from companies in the US such as Microsoft and Google.

Why is that our fight?
Why fight for free speech in China or Saudi Arabia when their own citizens won't?

Support the efforts of those who create software and services for identifying, tracking, and subverting such censorship.
Most such folks are individuals or small groups, or small non-profits, who would appreciate moral support and a pat on the back, but the occasional donation, even 5 dollars would go a long way too!
BTW, there is plenty of such stuff going on inthe West too, see todays news:?

Also, ever try to copy a DVD you bought, while trying to exercise your rights under Fair Use of copyrighted materials you have purchase? Who gets to decide when DRM software is allowed to subvert your well established rights the long pre-date the material in question?
I could go on and on with examples, but the folks working to subvert the issues in the West deserve your support too is the point I am trying to make.

Why would you want to?
I like being able to use the Internet and know that I'm not going to suddenly be horrified by the appearance of pornography on the screen. I also like knowing that my children and my students are similarly protected.
