"Best" is a relative term. If you really want to go to school for acting you need to check out the available programs and try to discover which schools best fit your needs. Have you checked out any of the College Fairs for Performing Arts that are happening around the country this month? If you want more information on these fairs, check out this Web page...
http://www.musical-theater-kids.com/performing-arts-college-fair.html
You will then be able to access a page that gives you dates and locations for the fairs. You can also see a list of schools that participate in the fairs. If you've missed the one in your area or if you can't get to the one near you, you can at least get a copy of the list of participating schools. Go into the college's Web site and have them send you information.
One other thing, don't be discouraged by what a school costs when you initially investigate. Many of these schools offer scholarships and if you are talented you have a good chance of getting money. Apply to those that interest you, if you are accepted, you can figure out if you can afford it when you get your financial package. Just don't get your mind set on one school. The good acting programs are very competitive. Best of Luck to you on your college search!

What colleges seem to be and what they are in reality for certain kinds of education are two different things. Liberal arts colleges, for example are not good places to learn how to act or to become an actor. The very best college in America for acting is Julliard in NYC. Next is Yale Drama School, then maybe Purchase College in NY. There are a couple others. They share two characterisitcs. They are very hard to get into, and they are very expensive. Since these two qualities generally are true for the few colleges in America worth going to to become an actor, it is generally not a good idea for someone who wants to be an actor to go to college in the first place. It is a waste of time doing lots of stuff that has nothing to do with acting, when you could be concentrating all your efforts in preparation for a career.

Theater Doc told me about a school called The Acting Without Agony Adademy. I don't know if it's better than Julliard or the others though. Not sure you can graduate there either

Check out the theater programs at Northwestern and the University of Southern California -- they're both supposed to be fabulous.
