I am ignorant when it comes to BK or the like, but would apply the same method when interviwing folks in my profession in power engineering.
I invite all applicants to a freindly informal interview in otder of date received, to keep it fair.
I then have a short-list of those that are most suitable.
Back for a more formal interview with me, then I spot the right person for the job.
Job done in a twinkling of the eye.
Perhaps fast food places are a bit less thoughtful, but if you present yourself, either at customer liaison and service level, or a managerial position, the same applies.

Be confident and outwardly freindly, and all is well.

im going to jump out on a lim here and guess that you or someone you know are planning to apply at BK... most times if you take in your application inside the store the manager will ask if you have time to interview, and that's only if you are applying for a low position...

But if you are planning to apply for a top position, then your application goes to the local office and they will call people at random to schedule them for an interview
