Ok, thanks but when we look at pictures or statues of ancient egyptians, they dont look like Arab or Berber peoples, they look very different to most African people dont they?

The ancient Egyptians considered themselves to be a distinct race, but they were closely related to many north African peoples such as the Libyans. They were not black, or even dark brown - they depicted men as a deep reddish brown, women much paler and more yellowish (women spent more time indoors and so did not get suntanned) Their hair was very black.

When the Arab invasions of north Africa took place in the 7th century AD, the Egyptians were converted to Islam and many other changes took place (such as the introduction of camels, dhows and other things). Today the Egyptian race is very much mixed with Arab blood, so the people who now live in Egypt are not exactly the same as the Ancient Egyptians, but they probably carry some of the same genes.

The language is now Arabic; a form of ancient Egyptian was still spoken in the Roman period but is now extinct.

How about this...

The Egyptians (Egyptian: rmṯnkm.t; Coptic: ⲛⲓⲣⲉⲙ'ⲛⲭⲏⲙⲓ ni.ramenkīmi; Arabic: مِصريّون miṣriyūn; Masri: مَصريين maṣreyyīn) are a North African ethnic group native to Egypt. Egyptian identity is rooted in the lower Nile Valley, the small strip of cultivatable land stretching from the First Cataract to the Mediterranean Sea and enclosed by vast deserts. This unique geography has been the basis of the development of Egyptian society in antiquity.

The Egyptian people have spoken only languages from the northern branch of the Afro-Asiatic family throughout their history, from old Egyptian to today's vernacular Egyptian Arabic. Their religion is predominantly Sunni Islam with a Shia minority and a significant proportion who follow native Sufi orders.[10][11] A large minority of Egyptians belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church, whose liturgical language, Coptic, is the latest stage of the indigenous Egyptian language.

Sometime ago I watched a programme about ancient Egypt. The statues show them with elongated feet and a rather rounded spine....They researched to see if this was a true reflection on the person or was it something added by the sculptor......They found that in fact this was a true representation of the person and they have found Egyptians with this but cannot state if this is because they are a descendant of the royal dynasty's or if it is a medical condition...

they were basically not that different from the arabs and Berbers found in the region today, but as the empire grew, they attracted immigrants (or gained slaves) from throughout the middle east, eastern Mediterranean and northeast Africa.

They are still there. well, their descendants are. Even if a culture fades, that does not mean the people vanished.

They were descended from Mizraim, the grandson of Noah. They were not Arabic nor were they black, but I'm sure they were darker skinned. The blacks were descended from Noah's grandson Cush. After the Babylonians ,Greeks and especially the Arab Muslims took over they have totally changed the race through inter breeding.
