The Debates are on for both parties do we as Americans just love a good freak show and the grandest liar is the one we elect?

If so what does that mean for our future and the kids future?

I mean to base our economy our Government and future and personal lives on a line of a lie?

Also what percantage of insanity does the bi-polar shft in Government cause? One day it is legal to do say A and the next A is illegal?

No, I don't think anyone likes to be lied to. And when it comes to politicians, I want to ask WHY is that to be expected? I do not know what it is going to take to get our government back on track. One start might be to revoke all benefits and handouts going to illegal aliens and their offspring. If help is to be given, offer it to people who come here LEGALLY, not people who slip over our borders like snakes in the grass. The next step might be to vote out every single sitting representative and senator and start over, if such a thing were possible. Another might be to put a cap on how much a candidate can spend to get your vote, and make it a low one, btw, not so many millions of dollars. Maybe then our politicians can stop being bought into office. For the sanity of all concerned, we need to stop all this politically correct bull crap. Stop the nonsense like that guy in California who filed a lawsuit because he was offended by the "In God we trust" motto on our money (He wasn't so badly offended that he minded making money and using money, though). Those are some of my thoughts. But I really need to stop here as I see I am not really answering your question, and I am perilously close to ranting. Thank you for a stimulating post.

Recently a friend argued that Clinton was a better president than some others despite being a liar, and being a liar was part of the job.

I heartily disagreed, and asked why they would choose someone to run their country that they would never hire to do their accounting.

One thing that should be examined when checking out a potential candidate is character, what kind of man (or woman) he is.

There are some candidates that I trust more than others. There are some that seem sincere, but who support policies I could never vote for. And there are some who seem insincere on all sides.

Voting is a responsibility that cannot be taken lightly. Do not vote only relying on media or campaign ads!

The more serious you take voting, the more likely the candidates will learn what you want.

You are thinking about this way too much. Here's the plan:

1. Figure out what would make your government better instead of thinking about it in general terms. For example, maybe you would think that greater transparency is what's needed so it's harder for politicians to lie. Maybe another way to go at it is to get unfunded mandates/programs abolished.

2. Get involved in your government. A democracy relies on people participating.

...good question...I think we don't know how to blame the media anymore for confusing the sht out of everyone. The lies are protected to keep a story rolling...therefore the politicians usually hide under the radar as the story true or not becomes the investment.Until the storyboard needs a conclusion: then it becomes whom the media decides to go after...that is usually influenced by those on top with money...so,character assasination becomes the final chapter of the story...and as long as it puts food on the working man's table for a long time after...a search for some truth in the story becomes a thing of the past. The Jimmy Olsens of old superman day reporting hav gone away...and hired hitmen disguised as reporters work incognito...though they really are DEVIL'S advocates...as the lies continue.

Probably not. No one would admit they like to be lied to. However, I have yet to meet anyone who have never told a lie before (not that this makes it okay). I would be more concerned about what they lied about (i.e., having extramarital sex that doesn't get anyone killed or reasons for going to war that cost thousands of lives and billions of dollars). So I guess the answer is Yes, deep down, Americans do like it, we just won't admit it.

Personally, I don't like to be lied to and I try to vote for the candidate that strikes me as the most honest candidate. I am very very happy with my Senator, he votes just as I expected him to...

Apparently some do. Look at how many supporters Hillary Clinton has and she does nothing BUT lie.

No, but when it comes from politicos, that is to be expected. That is what politics is all about, deception.
