When we first got married my husband was still in the Army and we moved far away. I gained 35 lb. in 5 1/2 months. When we got back home and walked into my parents home they looked at me a few seconds and both burst out laughing.

True. Several times. I moved from Minneapolis to Texarkana in 1988, and spent about 5 years hearing "you ain't from 'round here, are you girl?"... people don't much care if you feel at home, I can tell you that! Then, in 2006, my husband had a job promotion that moved us to Longview, and now I'm too crippled to get out and meet strangers, and the ones I see don't ever look past the outside shell, so I'm staying home a lot, and I spend a lot of time on here. The south is only a friendly place if you have money to spend and look wonderful.

True, I have gotten work 600 miles away.
The best thing is to locate groups that share a common interest and get involved. That is way to see the same people again and again.
join a club, take classes, play tourist in the new area.
Keep in touch with family by phone and email and occasional visits.

True,
1st time when I was 15 my family moved from SD to TX. We didn't have any family in TX. I had a good time there.
When I turned 19 I moved to AL to go to college at Auburn. I do have family in AL, but my nearest relative was 30 mins away.
When I was 24 I moved up to Huntsville, AL to work. My nearest family was about 1.5 hrs away.
6 months later I moved out to Wichita, KS to work. My nearest family here is 6 hrs away.

Yes i found a church that i liked and met people that had the same mind frame i did, that turnout to be the friends i needed to hang around, i try ed clubbing and didn't find any good friends just sex friends, that was OK for a while but had to stop the madness, and find a real girlfriend, not booty calls. following Christ changed my way of thinking, and my actions.then i found a woman for me. it wasn't a perfect relationship, but Thur the holy spirit and love for one another we made a commitment. to follow Jesus, and love each other.we take it day to day, yo never know whats going to happen from day to day. keep your head up. take your time you will find some friends to make you feel at home.
