Well, the standard litany is she is responsible for the environmental movement with her book "Silent Spring" which caused this nation to reevaluate its use of pesticides. While I can surely argue this reevaluation was good, the environment, wildlife especially eagles and their eggs, has benefitted and thus our health, blah, blah, blah.............On the reverse side, the knee jerk action against DDT and pesticide use has caused millions of people to die world wide due to malaria and other mosquito boren diseases which were once controlled by DDT. The knee jerk action against ALL pesticides, not just DDT, has resulted in great human misery. A middle ground must be found. So personally I can't say Raechel Carson was all that caring. But you can stick to the commonly accepted belief she is a saint, mother of the environmental movement and I'm sure your teachers will be impressed.
