you have to consider what you want to use it for.
Most likely you are interested in silver soldering. A propane torch is good for that. You want some small tips for the torch so you can localize the heat pretty precisely.
But to do silver soldering successfully you have to understand about the various kinds of silver solder, know that you need flux, how to clean your pieces of metal so it actually will work, and how to clean them after soldering from the oxides. Depending what metal you want to use details can vary.
If you are really confused, take a class where you get everything explained and help when you run into problems.

Small hand-held torches, that are refillable as with a lighter, can be obtained from any jewelry supply outlet. They cost about 80 euro, and are able to perform any soldering processes with exception of platinum. They will solder wire and plate metals, you will still require solder and flux.As suggested by the previous answer,it would be a good idea to do a course either at your local school or technical institute.

look up www.roseco.com and wale scientific both of which which sell a variety of torches.
Jewelry torches are generally small with tiny hot flames that heat joints with small bits of solder placed carefully.
