FDR's chicken in every pot saying pops into mind, then again Hillary seems to be trying to do the same thing, first $5,000 for every baby, now government sponsored IRA's lol

Federal government stinks at running social programs and those that do run successful programs are outside the government but aren't "allowed" Federal funding since they are religious oriented such as the Salvation Army and Red Cross. Still find it odd that the same folks that would fight to the death against National ID cards will gladly accept National Health Cards so that Big Brother will know your every medical fact, huh oh well some things are just ironic.

NASA, Social Security, Medicare, the Federal Justice System, CIA, FBI, Pell grants, Peace Corp., FDIC, etc. Social or not....they work.

All are good programs that have been run well, and benefit millions of Americans.

YES, I would trust the Feds to run a quality health care system.

There are tons of succesful federal "programs", and, the government could do a better job in bragging about itself to the American people...Job Corp is such a program, a job training program directed at underprivaleged youth. It mandates that each student finish their GDP, and, receive job training, and PLACES the student in a position in industry once the student's program is complete.

project with your question is there no actual definition of "nicely run". with the intention to make certain what which potential, there could want to be some often agreed upon measures and metrics. That pronounced, some which will nicely be pronounced run ok are: - FAA - air site visitors contollers do a surprisingly stable job - militia transport wing, Coast shield, maximum militia centers perform particularly nicely-- albeit overly costly. - Sec. Svc - they look surprisingly plenty run and shelter presidents - jointly as i've got no longer researched this, i've got heard that Medicare runs particularly nicely. you're naive to think of that any entity- government or inner maximum is ideal-- they do no longer seem to be. And besides, some issues should not be privatized as they incredibly are public centers. i do no longer think of any **actual looking** individual thinks the GOV could run wellness care. The motive on this is incredibly to offer first rate coverage fees to those that want them. If this variety of factor have been to happen, that's obvious that insurrance companies could want to manage advantages (medicare section B does that). additionally, no plan i've got heard of propose that we "nationalize" all medical doctors and care-givers. we've seen that it would not artwork in lots of countries-Canada, ecu countries etc. final analysis is we would desire to handle the basis reasons of wellness care increasing fees. no one is doing that. We additionally want some plans so as that small companies and persons could have adequate money wellness care. There are actual looking strategies of doing it w/out thoroughly socializing drugs. project is, quite some folk are not even prepared to communicate concepts w/out accusatory comments of going to the extreme. enable me wager, you have wellness care via your organization-- do you recognize that that's awefully costly?

I have to agree with gaby. I can't think of any government run program (social or not) that has been successful. I wouldn't trust the government to handle my laundry, let alone my health care.

Maybe the problem isn't the social program, it's the people you put in charge to run the programs.
Universal health care works great in many countries.

Yeah, because private health care companies are just THE PICTURE of efficiency. Mine is staffed by chimpanzees who keep you on hold for an hour, give you wrong information, then disconnect you.

CDC, FEMA, EPA, FDA
The problem with federal programs are not the programs themselves it's who runs them.
I dare you to say that FEMA is not needed.
It's the inexperienced idiots appointed by Bush ruin the success of the departments.

There's no such thing as a government successful program. That's why the government spendings goes up all the time. They fail and they throw more money to solve the problem. They fail again and do the same again.
