I am doing a research project on racism, and I'm going to need topics to lead my class in a discussion that will last 50 minutes, this includes a powerpoint. So do you know any topics/questions I can ask my class to get thing rolling and to make sure I get a good grade.
Or do you know any good web sites where I can get good information on racism?
Help is much appreciated.

Start by asking the class what causes racism. that always seems to get people thinking. Good luck

I've done a similiar project for my 10th grade english class (that was, oh, 4 years ago). Here are some good topic points you can use:
The beginning of racism, where it began (you'll be surprised, this one could take the whole 50 minutes!)
Racism in America up to the Civil War
Racism in America up to Martin Luther King
Hell, Martin Luther King
Racism in America today
Racial stereotypes "dirty mexican" "thieving black people" "white supremeists"

Don't focus on just American, look at other countries too...
Nazis and Jews
Palensteinians(sp?) and Israelites
Sunni's and Shi'ites of Iraq(current events, looks good on reports)
Biblical racism

Why would I listen to Rush Limpballs when that all he preach all day is hate speech? It's Rush the magic bigot show. I wouldn't give that fat f**k the time of day. This is the man who play Barrack the magic n*gro and thought it was funny. I hope you will listen and learn something but I seriously doubt it. It's your party that calls president Obama deceased mother a ni88ger lover, wh7re, blacks and the First Family, monkey, gorilla, KFC etc.You party that use racist slurs toward minorities. After you listen to the show, come back here and stand up against racism from your fellow GOP supporters. ஜ

You didn't mention as to whether you meant racism in general, in America, or worldwide. Here is a site which discusses Racism & the Law:

Here is a positive action site called Let's Beat Racism:

Here is my comic, based upon my friends, who have faced racial discrimination:

I moved to Switzerland from the US. I think this is a great topic, because in here there is this issue with a political party trying to expel "the black sheep" (foreigners who commit crime and their families). Now, they put posters (you can google, black sheep switzerland on images) you will find it...fast!
Now, how is it that all the NGO,UN and all of that is in a country that even the UN called racist? check articles and stuff. A great place to start is englishforum.ch they will give you a lot of info if you look at the threat "are the swiss racists"
Regards,

There are teachers' lesson plans on the web that you can find...I would suggest starting there and get some ideas. Then you can build you presentation. Type in "racism lesson plans." Her are some:

maybe you could talk about progress in the us since the 1950s. do your research, then get your video camera and get some live footage. you can use clips of it in your powerpoint presentation. also interview your friends of all races/nationalities and get their input.

agreeing with angel smile. most people have very rigid inflexible views on this subject. i.e. i know black people who have told me they hate me because i am white even though i have never done any thing to them and in some cases have even done favors for them. avoid this subject like the plague.
