If forced to make this choice, I would give up one of my parents to save my child. My parents have lived a longer life and I am looking forward to walking both of my daughters down the aisle, seeing them graduate from High School, hell, even going on their first dates. My parents have already hit milestones and are just waiting out retirement. So that would be my choice.

Depends.
I think that emotionally, I would be more likely to give up my parent to save my child. My parents are older and have lived a good life. The child would have to be extremely young for me to consider it over my parent. As an extreme case, I would rather my wife miscarriage than my parent die. Somewhere between that and the child being older, there must be a line where the child would have enough of a start, that it's potential outweighs my parent's investment in life.
Still, who knows what I would think at the moment? It really is a vague question. As for culture, I'm American.

my child comes first- always! and if it was my grown child in that situation then I would want them to choose their child over me- always!
