I assume you are talking about saving an ANIMATED gif and then when you view it you only see the first frame. If you are viewing it in a graphics program you won't see the movement. If you save the file and then open it using a browser, like Internet Explorer, you should still see the animation. Try opening one in IE. Changing an animated gif's name to jpg would lose the animation.

You don't say what happens when you try to open the Gif on your computer, but it may just be that the GIF file association has been lost. This can be replaced quite easily.
A workaround may be to simply rename the file to JPG for viewing, but this is only becuase most 'viewers' which read GIF will also read JPG and using the JPG File association gets the viewer program started. It would be better in the long run to fix the file association.
To view or repair the File Association:
Double Click MyComputer.
Click TOOLS - FOLDER OPTIONS.
Click the File TYpes Tab.
Scroll down to look for the extension GIF.
Repair:
If the GIF extension exists, it will have the 'program' it uses for the extension next to it. If there is nothing, you can fix this by clicking on the GIF line, and then click the CHANGE button.
Click on the appropriate program in the list, or use the Browse program to fine the .exe of the program you wish to use. Click OK.
REPLACE
To replace a missing File Association,
Click the NEW button.
Enter the three letter extension (in this case GIF)
Click OK
Click on the new entry,
Click on the CHANGE button.
As above, find the appropriate program for the extension to use. Click OK.
