This big network of people all using the same things to show their "individuality" and creating a shell in which they don't need to address the real world. Why? I've been there, it's dumb. What is the facination with this? How is it going to affect peoples ability to deal with others in real life social situations later in life?

Honestly I think it is an addiction and a waste of time. It seems that some people spend more time on the computer than they do talking face-to-face with someone.
Myspace has its benefits, like helping you get in touch with someone you haven't seen in years, but only when used sparingly. It's no substitute for conversation and reality.

I've been use Myspace account for nearly 5 years now and i'm still loving it because i can get closer with my networking friends, learning HTML and CSS etc.

The problem is some people in myspace use their account for nonsense purpose. Example, a little girl posing like 18 years old model so they will get more attention from the boys or maybe.. a pedophile. People must know that they must never fully trust a stranger over the net. So you know the case like murder, rape, kidnapping occurs because of this.

I don't think Myspace will affect peoples ability to deal their own social life. I have a networking group in Myspace and we had meet each other in the safer way like organizing dinner party, thanksgiving party etc.

It's up to individual itself to choose their own way to communicate with their friends in the internet or in the reality.

Parents also have the power to control their children activity in the internet. Myspace only provided the "way" to help other communicate with friends over the world.

If you're sincere to search for new friends in Myspace, it's not going to harm you. Hence, it's fun to sharing each other stories from different background.

Because they're jealous and ignorant why else .. Its like Hilary Clinton telling us video games and violence in the media loads a gun and cocks it for the kids .... No its the parents not being decent parents and telling their kids this is wrong blah blah ... But either way ...

Some people do have a hard time distinguishing between reality and the internet/game/tv whatever but those people are mentally ill a normal person doesn't ... So basically those companies are jealous of Myspace getting so big and the attention it brings and I'm sure their company is losing out .. So they target it to get publicity and make themselves look good

Many people use myspace for networking which can benefit their business or career. I think too often the web is giving a bad rap because of stories about those who abuse it. The web, including myspace, can be a place for learning, growing and connecting.
