Just looked at the answers and yes it is difficult to justify the thumbs down.
I give thumbs down on some questions which I have not answered (sometimes someone else has given an opinion very similar to mine and I think it is pointless repeating it) if I disagree with the opinion or think that it is a bad answer, is this wrong? It seems that everyone does it.
Just to add after looking at the amount of thumbs down that Kamran and Storm have got on this thread it would appear that some people follow others around, I find that pathetic and would only give a thumbs down if I disagreed or disliked an answer and not because I disliked the poster.

A lot of people base their thumbs-down on a name. I saw a simple Yes/No question, and nobody else had got a thumbs-down, but one individual had 10. I've already seen that people have got loads of thumbs-down on this question, and I have no doubt that everyone who answers it will get them too. It's just a way for some people to be nasty, and I personally don't take any notice of them because they're little symbols, that aren't going to affect my everyday life. I still think it's unfair that people get thumbs-down for a reasonable answer.
EDIT: To try and even the balance, everyone's got a thumbs up from me, and you've got a star. Just my little treat lol. :)

I wouldn't worry...i often get loads of thumbs down...water of a ducks back.... the option to thumbs up or down is there for everyone to use as they wish I guess...
The only time it ever bothered me was when I answered a post about a lads dying grandfather...everyone that had words of support were given the thumbs down?
As an indicator of whether an answer is a good or bad one the thumb system isn't very accurate is it?
Oh well.... best just to laugh it off!

Well I guess I'm a member of this club. The "Thumbs Down Club".
So. I'll go against the grain and give all a "One Up"....

Well? I see it didn't take long. My "first" honorary thumbs down. Now I feel accepted.

Take the thumbs down with a pinch of salt. People can't debate or argue a point so they give thumbs down instead.
You can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time lol

I had a load after answering a question "How old was your baby when you stopped breast feeding?"
I answered it truthfully; was I supposed to lie to suit modern kids' ideas about infant nutrition procedures and recommendations back in the 60's. We just didn't do BF till children were up to 5 years of age.

Maybe we should be glad that some "thumbs downers" don't have a missile key to press, a few on here might not hesitate.

hi obanpg, this seems to happen all the time. I answered a question about 4 days ago from someone who was going to Edinburgh with her boyfriend & wanted to know places to visit , best drinking holes & clubs etc. Edinburgh being my home city I gave a list of attractions as did a few others & we all got thumbs down , the answers were not offensive , obscene , racist or anything else other than a few people stating the attractions of the city. crazy or what ?
