It got infected with a virus. Hence i had to reformat. Now it just says something along the line of your sound device is not installed.

This is quite common. You are missing your sound drivers. Go to the manufacturer's web site. Find the Support/Downloads section and look up your computer. You should be able to download the sound drivers.

Try browsing your driver CD for the driver.
Go to your system properties(right click my comp and click properties) and then under hardware you get device manager.

In device manager you find sound,video controller or multimedia controller (hint if the sounds not coming the device will probablly have a yellow question mark next to it)

just right click the device and click update when the options come ask the computer to find it through the internet.
It will automatically install.

It sounds like you lost your soundcard driver when you reformat. Reinstalling the driver will surely solve your problem. Contact your vendor to get the driver you need.

You will need to download the correct drivers for you soundcard. Try windows update first, if they don't have it, then you will have to go to your computer manufacturers website and look up your computer.

you have to install again your driver with sound card cd
