I have a 1998 Mercury Tracer LS. Whenever I try to rev the car in Park it makes a sucking air noise and then the car revs up about a full second after I hit the gas pedal ( about a half second after the air sucking noise). I only reved the car up because when I tried to start it, I didn't hold the key long enough and it stalled. The only way to start it after this happens is to use the gas pedal while it is trying to start. (It doesn't do this often) After the RPM's went down I reved it back up so it wouldn't stall when I put it in reverse. That's when it made the air noise and it does it everytime I rev the car up now. The car has never done this before, but now it is crapping out on me. I just want to know what's wrong with it before it becomes a bigger problem. The engine has high miles on it, but it runs strong and it has NEVER leaked any fluid since i got it. I've already waisted about $3,000 on the car and I really don't want another engine or have to sell the car. Suggestions?
