I am thinking about buying a PS3 game from a seller on eBay that states the item is coming from Hong Kong. It says the item is in English and region free but I thought I would double check with you guys as to whether it would work on my UK machine? Also, what differences would there be from a proper UK version of the game??

It would work on a UK machine because, the PS3 games are not region locked or anything. Don't get frightened if you see stuff like Region 3 (Asia Edition). Even though it says that, doesn't mean you can't play it. It will work. If you were watching movies with blu-ray disc, you will probably have to look for a region 2 I think for the UK. Blu-Ray Movies are region locked. If you were buying a PS2 game, you have to buy the UK Edition because it is region locked as well. Hope this helps!

Don't worry, PS3 games are multiregion ones, however PS2 games and movies from PAL region won't run on it. I have NTSC 60GB in Europe - PAL games run all right.
