The Divine Wind was considered the greatest sacrifice for the Emperor; great rewards were at the end of the rainbow.

More than 7000 pilots gave their lives for the Emperor.

Initially it was skilled pilots who flew the Kamikaze missions under the misguided premise of being "Thunder God's". The sacrifice was all for not.

While the attacks were devastating when accomplished, most were shot down by anti-aircraft, and CAP flights.

You must have nerves of steel. It is also vital to obtain one way tickets. This saves on air miles. You must feel ok flying with out a parachute.Your eyesight has to be 20/20 so as you can spot an enemy ship from as far away as 5000ft.this to give you enough time to line up your craft.1 other requirement is you must wear high length flying boots. So as when you are flying upside down the crap remains tightly consealed in them at all times. You must be able to glide long distances as they do not give you enough fuel to return .You also need a lucky charm.

Unknown fact for all of the above. THE PILOTS WERE LOCKED IN THE AIRPLANE so they could not get out if they wanted to. Even if they tried to crash land in the water, they would drown as the plane sunk. Since they knew they were going to die anyway, they might as well crash into the ships.

Well if you return from 12 missions, you are too experienced to be a kamikaze.

First is the ability to fly the plane. Second, stupid courage. And third, being a merciless bastard whose mind is bent on killing everyone for the sake of his fatherland.

Presumably the training was shorter because they didn't need to study landing.
