I think a Cat is more sensible, but dogs are much nicer and sweeter animals! If I had to choose a cat over a dog I would choose dog any day! Also you can train a dog to come to you when it is called, and you bond with them much quicker and it is a stronger bond.

Depends what sort of person you are, and what you can afford and realistically look after. Cats are good if you want something cuddly- although dogs are cuddly too, they need boundaries which become blurry and non- existant if you can never stop hugging and kissing them, or don't make them sleep in the proper place etc.
If you are active, like walking (a lot), can stick to a routine, and are a good leader then a dog's a good idea.
If you're lazy (be honest), affectionate and creative, get a cat.

Well in terms of sensible...sense meaning good judgment I think both cats and dogs are sensible in their own way, of course in every species there are extremes.
Alot of dogs save peoples lives of their own accord not because of "training" or anything being taught to them so while some dogs can be incredibly stupid there are also those who prove to us that they can be incredibly smart and have very good judgment.
Cats are very different to dogs but have special personalities of their own but at times "appear" rather selfish lol which is of course their survival instinct which is also equally smart and sensible.
I think it's like comparing chalk and cheese to be honest I don't think there is an actual correct answer just a difference of opinion depending on who you ask :)

some people love cats so they say cats. This is the same with dogs.

Cats, of course. They will leave if mistreated and given half a chance. I've seen dogs take abuse after abuse after abuse and go back for more. This may prove they're loyal, but it also proves they're stupid. So which animal do YOU now think if more sensible? I've also seen cats protect homes and wake their owners when there was a fire!

Cats always LOOK like they know everything, but dogs can be trained more easily than a cat to behave whereas cats do what they like, when they like. So cats are the intelligent free spirits & dogs are more complient, its up to you to choose which characteristic you see as sensible...
