Don't know but I can tell you a Great(subjective) debut single by a terrible singer(if you can call him that) was MacArthur's Park by Richard Harris

Love Me Do by The Beatles. As they are arguably the biggest band in the history of popular music their debut single is naff.
Is has a naff rhythm seemingly copped from some Liverpool sea shanty, no chorus and two verses which are repeated to lengthen the song. To cap it all it has no guitar solo but a crummy harmonica solo which is just an instrumental retread of the second verse.

Every winner's single ever released by a Pop Idol, X Factor or American Idol winner. They often go on to good things but the cheesy winner's singles are awful!

Trapped in a box - No Doubt

Everytime I listen to that song I think of the little jack in the box toy where you wing the handle till the clown pops out of the box.
