Re: Smelly farts

Well, my first question to you would be do you feed your dog any table scraps? Any at all? Even the smallest amounts can screw up his stomach if it is sensitive enough. If you do not feed him anything but his dog food and treats, then my next guess would be has he had any diet changes like a change in dog food or did you just move? Sometimes even the dog can be sensitive to the slightest changes and this can cause his stomach to become uneasy. Or, you might even consider changing his food to one made for sensitive stomachs. If, you do, make sure you mix his old and new food for about a week. If you don't, you will probably get to see just how bad his farts can really smell.

I would suggest switching the food to a higher quality food. Something like Solid Gold and other foods like it, are much better for them. My dogs had alot of gas from time to time before I switched them to Solid Gold. If you have recently switched his food that too can cause temporary gas problems while their body adjust to the new food.
You also did not state how old your dog is. If he is a puppy he will most likely grow out that. If he is not a puppy then it is most likely the food that is causing all the gas in his belly.
Also talk to your vet and see what other options there are. Although the smell may be bad, gas could also cause pain for him. So it would be much better to find out what is causing it.

It's generally from the food he eats. I recommend Canidae or Innova. Definitely make sure there are no fillers like corn in it. Your dog will have better skin and coat, less gas, and will eat and poop less. Guaranteed.
Holistic foods definitely are better for a dogs digestive tract.
You pay a little more per bag, but they eat less so it evens out actually.
Good luck!

1st of, get him to vets, to rule out anything that may be causing him to Fluff so much. (could have a bad gut.)
If all ok, the vet should advise you the best diet for your dog.
A bland diet will help ease the problem. If vet is given the dog all clear, in meantime while you are changing his diet, and its got to be introduced slowly, you can get charcoal tablets (if vets says ok.) from most big pet stores, this helps neutralise the smell. But iyou must introduce a new diet slowly. Boiled rice helps to.

I know, mine too, its so gross!

We discovered it was actually down to the type of food we were feeding him. It was a brand of canned food that always made him smell so we just experimented with different types & eventually found one that didn't make him smell

I surely don't care if you chose me as "best answer", however whatever YOU are feeding to your dog is causing the flatulence.
Crap in, crap out! That's almost a law to which not too many people pay attention.

Consider changing the foods in your dogs diet. Make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise too.

IT'S THE FOOD. It's ALWAYS the food. Whenever there is any kind of digestive upset, gas, vomiting, diarrhea.. It's THE FOOD. That is a no brainer.
