Immigrants....?

Question

so i live in Scunthorpe, and work in an agency that gives jobs to immigrants....
but is it the same everywhere or just here?
Have all the towns suddenly been over populated by immigrants.....i can quite easily go for a thirty minute walk and not pass a single English speaking person, when did that become normal? and is it the same everywhere?

If you come to London you will think you have crossed the border into a foreign Land. London is over run, the Natives think they can escape by moving out, 'they cant'.

There are quite a few immigrants here in Edinburgh (from eastern Europe in particular), but I certainly wouldn't describe the city as being "over populated" by them. In fact, compared to the numbers of foreign visitors and tourists we get in Edinburgh, they are a very small minority. During the 3 or 4 weeks of the Edinburgh Festival in particular, the cities population almost doubles.

So it is very common in Edinburgh to walk for a long time and not pass an English speaking person (and when you do they are often American, Australian or English rather than native Scots), but that is due mainly to tourists and other short term visitors, not immigrants.

It makes me wonder whether people generally draw the distiction between short term visitors and immigrants in other cities?

I hasten to add I am not complaining at all about visitors to Edinburgh. The more the better! Edinburgh's tourist industry is booming and long may it continue.

It is the same in every town and city in the Uk.As an EEC member we cannot refuse entry to people from other member states.We are a soft touch because of our Benefit laws.We are a caring nation and that is why they head here.We should however come down hard on those entering the country without proper funds and Insurance for health care.These rules should apply at the port of exit and carriers in violation should be fined heavily,and made to pay for their return journey home.Eastern Europeans appear to be our biggest problem and were brought up under Communist rules meaning that it is Ok to steal to cheat and to portray acts of violence in order to survive.Need i say more

Anybody in Britain who does a job that involves any real work eg mechanic engineer,construction or factory worker is looked down on by jerks who sit in offices pushing paper about.Thats why this country is f**ked.Any skill base that we once had has either gone abroad or died of old age so now we import people who have no real grasp of technology but are good with a hammer.A skilled tradesman is worth a thousand pricks in suits who can talk a good job but are like our immigrants ,bloody worse than useless

Oh do not get me started on this subject.
I don't have any problems with immigrants working for a living and actually living here paying taxes etc, I do how ever have a problem with them being given "priority" over people who have been born here and lived here all their lives. This is really not fare and is causing problems with locals and racism growing in areas where the locals are over looked for jobs because immigrants are willing to work longer hours for lower rates of pay. The government are to blame for this situation and it just isn't right or fare, and it is bloody demoralising for the people who are over looked, ignored by employees. The other thing is the department of works and pensions are willing to believe everything the immigrants tell them, offer them and then give them every assistance going, all the benefits, money, housing anything they want even to the fact that some immigrant workers are claiming for upto 10 children who remain in their country, they don't have to provide proof that they exist, they get paid child benefit for everyone of them. How the hell can all this be right or fare.

And please don't jump on the band wagon "oh the poor immigrants" yes the governemnt have made this situation but the immigrants know exactly what to do and from my experience the majority try it on to screw as much as possible out of this country and shits your thanks most of them can't even be bothered to say a polite hello.

It's because Scunthorpe lets immigrants have jobs and cheap homes etc so they take advantage. By the way if there are any foreigners reading this, I am not being racist, you are not all like that, there are just a few people who take advantage of their human rights.

If you have that many immigrants in your area, the it means that Scunthorpe is "globalized " enough, and you will have the opportunity to practice your swahili, arabic, Spanish or whatever language, and enjoy more curry, tacos, and Shawarma...
We dont complain in the third world about the English language being compulsory in our schools..
Its time to see the other side of globalization...

It's terrible in Glasgow. The polish have taken over and it's getting beyond a joke now. They are claiming every benefit going and the hard working UK are paying for them to stay here.

and yes, I like nothing less than to walk through an area and think I have been teleported to another country. if i want to go to africa or china then I will buy a plane ticket and fly there, safe in the knowledge that i will be flying home again shorty
