that everyone has to lock themselves in the house or wherever to protect themselves?
where is there a proper legal sytem which operates as a deterrent against the criminal activites which take place
It seems to me that today's 'trendies' attack the victims and not the perpetraters

Twinklin I can remember when we did not lock our doors and could walk miles in the dark
The only thing that 'frightened' you would have been your imagination
Rightly we will never have a Utopia

i think it is all down to discipline since the laws came in when your not alowed to hit children but look at our youngsters today they have nothing to be scared of! thats why they back chat and progress from there because there is not enough discipline! my mum was strict and i grew up knowing right from wrong! Also because the prisons are full to the brim courts have to be more leniant just because there is no room for them so they feel they can get away with it because they can get away with it!!!!!!! stupid system someone needs to do something or my baby girl wont be walking out the door!!!!!!!

It must depend where you live or who you hang around with. I guess I'm lucky, we don't experience this fear.
A lot of it comes from the news - a hundred years ago I'm guessing the situation was a lot worse but you never knew what happened outside of your own town - now when a little old lady gets mugged in Birmingham everybody knows about it by 6pm the same evening. Children are more in danger from traffic than they are from predatory paedophiles yet everyone is convinced that if they let their kids go to the park alone they'll be abducted. Stop watching/listening to/reading the news and you'll feel safer and more carefree.

I agree Plato, but i also think that if my house was robbed there would be no chance of finding who did it. If someone did know there would be no chance that someone would turn them in. If it got as far as court the sentence would be laughable. There just such a strong sense of being able to get away with anything these days.
If people used crimestoppers and started shopping criminals then maybe things might change. I've seen too many people turn a blind eye. I'm not talking about grassing but what i do know is if my kid came home with a "new" ipod or mobile then i'd be bloody worried.

The problem with the legal niceties of protecting those who are guilty of such crimes in that if you hurt or injure or even abused this person, who is the perpetrater, you could find yourself in court. The Court would consider the perpetrater or the accused rights as well.

People should have smaller families. We should care about people more. All people should have better lives not just the wealthy.
Crime will always be here unless we start respecting the poor, weak, and others.
The situation isn't being created by the perpetrators alone. Improve the lives of others and things will change. Respects others. Get rid of the elites and treat all people equally.
If you can't accept this then don't complain about crime.

The place you are talking about is called "Utopia" and it is a make believe place where everyone lives in Harmony.
The only time that this wonderful place existed on earth....
Eden, mankind had himself thrown out.
Mankind was given a free will and sadly, some use this free will to do acts of violence, theft and evil.
We as humans can only reach our Utopia in Heaven with GOD.
Until you go there, you will have to live in this imperfect world and try to do your best to make it a better place.

Life is not perfect and things often do not work as they should, If I have a problem I will try to deal with it through the legal channels, but if that fails I will go and settle my own scores, kick the guy's head it etc..., and if they send me to prison for that I will still have a clear conscience

It's called a sorry state of affairs. People have become to judgemental and will cast the first stone without any real evidence. They won't know how this feels until they have been there.

I think you will find that life is less violent today than say 1907 or 1887, what has changed is our expectations.
